Jersey Amateur Dancesport Association (JADA) AGM 17th February 2008

The Annual General Meeting:

The AGM was held on Sunday 17th February 2008 at Trinity Parish Hall at 5:00 and ended at 6:35.

Even though the Association was very strong, and active and financially viable and has been a complete success in its two year lifecycle there were no nominations forthcoming for the posts of Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Treasurer and as a result of the inability to cover the key activities regretfully there was no alternative but to close the Association.

Therefore the following activities were agreed:

Disposal of Assets:

The sixteen people that attended the AGM were asked to vote for a local charity of their choice (The only proviso was that the charity had to be listed in the Jersey Telephone directory) and the capital in the Bank would be divided by the number of members present to establish a cash value per member and a payment will be made to each listed charity based on the vote. Details will be placed on the site. This site is being transferred to La Moye Dancing Club.

There is no equipment or other assets owned by the Association.

The Website:

The Website and domain name was purchased privately by Roger Barette and its use and librarian duties and on going expenses are made by him. The use of the Website and domain name is to be transferred to the La Moye Dancing Club. From now on the site will become available for La Moye Dancing Club use and advertising of dance events will continue on the site but unlike JADA who advertised all events La Moye Dancing Club will only permit free advertising for events that are not clashing with their own events. Other pages not relevant to La Moye Dancing Club and its activities are likely to be removed. No paid advertising will be accepted. Tourism and other linked sites will be notified to change the hyperlink title to the new name and point to the old location.

Presentations:

The Chairman and Treasurer were both given a bouquet of flowers in appreciation of the work carried out since its inception.

Secretary’s Closing Comments:

It is a shame that a healthy and vibrant successful Association should have to close through lack of support to run it, the potential for promotion of dancing, and the Dance Schools and the opportunity to support of charity events an the likelihood of bringing over of TV Dance celebrities and opportunities for the youth of Jersey will be a loss to the island and the local dance world by the closure of JADA.

The Secretary's report:

The Secretary's report.

Association Records:

The records of the association will be retained for 10 years with Roger and Christine Barette. Thereafter they will be destroyed.

Legal Requirements:

The Financial Services has been notified of the Closure of the Association as required in the new legislation for Clubs, Associations, Charities, and non profit making organisations.

St. Helier Dance Festival:

The Town Hall has been notified that the St. Helier Dance Festival will need new sponsors and people to run it.
